All teeth whitening options attempt to improve the colour of teeth, removing stains and restoring them to lighter brighter hues. Many alternative teeth whitening DIY options are available, however these are not recommended as they often don’t work and are not always safe.
Discolouration of your teeth is hard to avoid. However, your lifestyle largely determines how fast and how much discolouration your teeth suffer. Drinking coffee, tea and red wine are common ways to stain the teeth. Smoking and chewing tobacco are also strong causes of teeth discolouration. In addition, teeth can become darker as we age.
The process begins with a 3D scan of your teeth so customised whitening trays can be created for you. Once ready, we will advise you on an individualised programmed to maximum the effectiveness of the whitening. During this process we will advise you to help lessen the chance of sensitivity.
The treatment is dependent on a thorough examination, in which the dentist will assess the health of your teeth and gums to see whether you are a suitable candidate for the treatment.
Whitening is suitable for most adult but treatment is not suitable for everyone. The dentist will advise you during the examination.
Whitening will only work on natural teeth and not on restorations such as crowns, veneers or dentures.
We currently do not offer in house whitening; we would always recommend at home whitening following our programme. This process will ensure you are able to get your teeth to their brightest shade possible for you.
